DeepSeek, Moonshot, MiniMax Face Intellectual Property Allegations

The Claude chatbot’s skills were being illegally extracted by three Chinese AI companies, according to AI startup Anthropic, which defined this as industrial-scale intellectual property theft. According to Anthropic, “distillation” was utilized by DeepSeek, Moonshot AI, and MiniMax to quickly increase the performance of a less capable one. Earlier last month, rival OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, made similar claims to US legislators.
