Iran Executions Surge, NGOs Urge Action

Two NGOs, Iran Human Rights and Together Against the Death Penalty, said on Monday that Iranian authorities executed at least 1,639 people in 2025 and now face the possibility of hanging more in the wake of the war against the United States and Israel. They urged the West to place the death penalty “at the heart” of any talks with Tehran.
