CBI argued the Andhra Pradesh government to take action against senior officials of Tirumala Tirupati Devashanam (TTD) for allied lapses in framing and enforcing tender conditions that led to the supply of adulterated ghee used in making of Tirupati laddu.
Finance Minister. Of Andhra Pradesh cabinet headed by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has decided to treat the people mentioned in the CBI-led Special Investigation Team (SIT) letter as guilty in the case.
The failure allowed insufficient private dealers to secure the Tirumala Tirupati Devashanam (TTD) contract and supply adulterated Ghee between 2002 and 2023.
Normal (pure) ghee is made from cow or buffalo milk fat by removing water and milk solids. The characteristics of normal (pure) ghee are that it is made from milk fat, has a natural aroma, has a high smoke point (250 degrees Celsius), contains healthy fats, and has vitamins (A, D, E, K).
Adulterated ghee is mixed with a cheaper or harmful substance to increase profit. The characteristic of adulterated ghee is using palm oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated fat, animal body fat, and paraffin wax (dangerous for health).
