China’s Services Growth Lags Developed Economies

Although China’s expenditure on services has recently surpassed the rise in consumption of goods, it still lags well behind Western nations. China has announced intentions to grow its services industry to 100 trillion yuan by 2030. In 2025, per-capita services consumption made up 46.1% of total consumption, far less than the almost 70% observed in the U.S.
