Strong Japan quake triggers tsunami warning

On Monday, an earthquake in northern Japan with a preliminary magnitude of 7.7 caused a brief tsunami alarm and a warning about the potential for a megaquake in coastal regions. According to the meteorological bureau, the earthquake happened on Monday at around 4:53 p.m. local time off the coast of Sanriku.
